A working smoke alarm roughly halves the risk of dying in a home fire. Carbon monoxide gives no warning at all. It has no smell, no color, and its early symptoms look like the flu. An alarm on the wall is the only way to know it's there.

We install and replace hardwired smoke and CO alarms with battery backup, interconnected so that when one sounds, they all sound. That matters in a large single-story Valley home, where an alarm going off in the garage hallway can't be heard from the primary bedroom with the door shut and the AC running.

Smoke & CO Detectors for Carefree Homes & Businesses

Carefree's luxury desert homes want architectural and landscape lighting to frame the views — and the panel capacity for resort-style living.

High-end custom homes where finish and capacity matter.

Where Smoke and CO Alarms Belong

Current residential code calls for a smoke alarm in every bedroom, one outside each sleeping area, and at least one on every level of the home. Carbon monoxide alarms belong outside each sleeping area in any home with a gas furnace, water heater, range, fireplace, or an attached garage. Requirements depend on when the home was built or remodeled and which code edition your city has adopted. We place alarms to meet your jurisdiction's rules.

Placement matters as much as count. Alarms mounted too close to a supply vent, ceiling fan, bathroom door, or kitchen cause nuisance alarms, and nuisance alarms get their batteries pulled. We put them where they'll catch a real fire and stay quiet the rest of the time.

Replacement, Upgrades, and Chirping Alarms

Smoke alarms expire. Manufacturers call for replacement every 10 years, and CO alarms last 5 to 10 depending on the model. Check the date stamped on the back. If it's past due, or there's no date at all, the alarm is likely past its useful life. Many homes in the Valley built in the early 2000s and 2010s are still running their original builder-installed alarms.

When we replace alarms, we match or upgrade the wiring harness, confirm the interconnect works from every unit, and can install combination smoke/CO alarms to cover both hazards with fewer devices. A chirp that won't stop after a battery change usually means an expired alarm or a failed interconnect, and we fix both.

Detectors are one part of a safe house. If you're buying, selling, or just never had it checked, an electrical safety inspection reviews the panel, wiring, and protection devices too. Whole-home surge protection protects the electronics alarms and smart devices rely on.

Smoke alarms every 10 years, and CO alarms every 5 to 10 depending on the model. The manufacture date is printed on the back. Replace them as a set so the whole system ages together.

If your home has any gas appliance, a fireplace, or an attached garage, you should have CO alarms outside each sleeping area. Newer construction and remodels are generally required to have them under the residential code your city has adopted.

Usually the alarm has reached end of life, or a unit in an interconnected system is faulty. A hardwired alarm can also chirp from a wiring or interconnect problem. We test the whole system and replace what's failed.

Yes. We run power and interconnect wiring to each location so the alarms work together, with battery backup for outages. Combination smoke/CO units can cut down the number of devices.
