JellyFish Lighting
“The lights are rarely the first thing to fail. The outlet they plug into usually is.”
You notice JellyFish Lighting on a December drive through Gilbert. A clean line of light tucked under the eave. No extension cords snaking across the lawn. No ladder leaning on the garage. Just a homeowner on the porch who looks suspiciously well rested. The lights live in a low-profile track along the fascia. The colors and patterns live in an app. The ladder lives in somebody else's garage now.
JellyFish systems are sold and installed through authorized dealers, and if yours is new or still under warranty, your dealer is the first call. We're licensed electricians, not a JellyFish dealer. What we do is everything around the lights: the circuit that feeds them, the outdoor GFCI receptacle the power supply plugs into, the weatherproof cover over it, and the surge protection that keeps a monsoon from cooking the controller.
That's where most trouble starts. A JellyFish run that goes dark in August is very often a tripped GFCI in the garage, a cracked cover that let the dust in, or a power supply parked in an attic that hit 140 degrees by lunch. We find the actual fault, fix the electrical side, and tell you plainly when it's a parts question for your dealer instead.

What We Do
JellyFish Help From Licensed Electricians
One company, one schedule, one price you see before we start.
Electrical & Install
We don't sell JellyFish. We make sure the house is ready for it, and that it stays powered once it's up.
- Dedicated circuit for the lighting power supply, so it doesn't share a breaker with the garage freezer
- GFCI receptacle at the eave, garage, or attic location the dealer's layout calls for
- Weatherproof in-use cover that stays closed with the cord plugged in
- Panel-level and point-of-use surge protection for the controller and power supplies
- Relocating power supplies out of the hottest corners of the attic
Service & Repair
When a JellyFish system misbehaves, we trace it from the breaker to the last light before anyone orders parts.
- Diagnosing dead sections, partial runs, and lights stuck on one color
- Fixing tripping GFCIs, loose connections, and heat-damaged receptacles
- Controller power and Wi-Fi checks when the app can't find the system
- Monsoon and storm damage repair on wiring, connectors, and track
- Careful takedown and reinstall around re-roofing, stucco, or paint work
Repair
When Your JellyFish Lights Act Up
JellyFish doesn't come with a check-engine light. Here's what the common symptoms usually mean on a Phoenix house.
Whole system dark, app shows offline
Usually no power reaching the controller: a tripped GFCI upstream, a tripped breaker, or a receptacle that gave up in the heat.
One section out, the rest fine
A failed connection or damaged segment at the start of that run, often near a corner, a splice, or a downspout.
Lights flicker or shimmer
A loose connector, a struggling power supply, or voltage drop on a long run that needs more power.
GFCI trips after rain
Water found a connection or receptacle box. Monsoon rain finds every gap the last person didn't seal.
App can't find the controller
Weak Wi-Fi where the controller sits, a new router or password, or a controller that lost power mid-setup.
Wrong colors on part of the run
Typically a data signal problem from one bad connection, not a run of dead LEDs. The fix is often smaller than it looks.
The Phoenix Problem Nobody Puts in the Brochure
Permanent lighting is sold on a December evening in the 60s, when everyone is in a generous mood. It lives through July. The fascia board can run hotter than the air around it, and the attic where some power supplies get parked runs hotter still. Electronics don't enjoy that. Neither do the builder-grade receptacles and flimsy covers that came with the house.
Then the monsoon rolls in with wind, dust, and a lightning show the whole Valley watches from the patio. A nearby strike can push a surge through every connected device, which is why we pair permanent lighting with whole-home surge protection. Our piece on why monsoon season fries electronics explains the mechanics. The short version: protection costs less than a new controller and a lost weekend. Call before July, not during it.
Re-Roofing or Painting? Call Before the Ladders Go Up
A roofer's job is the roof. Your lights are simply in the way. Track under the eave gets pried off, stepped on, and painted over by crews nobody told about it. We take JellyFish runs down in labeled sections, protect the power supplies, and put everything back after the stucco and paint have cured.
We also check the power side while it's open, because reinstall day is the cheapest day to add a dedicated circuit or move a receptacle somewhere sensible. If your HOA has opinions about what shows from the street, our HOA-friendly roofline lighting page covers how to keep the board content. Book the takedown when you sign with the roofer.

Yes, and it's one of our most common calls. We add a dedicated circuit and a GFCI receptacle with an in-use cover wherever the dealer needs power. Our outlet and switch service covers the details.
A JellyFish dealer sells and installs new JellyFish systems. We can handle the electrical prep for that install, or quote our own permanent LED system side by side so you can compare. See our roofline lighting installation service.
