Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights
“A permanent light installed in a hurry is often permanent only until the first monsoon.”
Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights are the retail branch of the permanent lighting family. You buy them online or off a store shelf, carry the box home, and set it on the kitchen counter, where in a great many Valley households it stays, unopened, until roughly the second week of December.
That's not a knock on the product. It's a knock on ladders. The kit is designed for homeowners to install themselves: app-controlled, color-changing lights that mount under the eave and plug into an outdoor outlet. The trouble is that the roofline is fourteen feet up, the stucco is harder than it looks, and the nearest outdoor outlet is on the far side of the patio, behind the grill.
So we install Govee kits our customers have already bought. We mount the lights in a straight, even line, route the cable cleanly, add a GFCI receptacle under the eave if you need one, seal what needs sealing, and set up the app before we leave. We're licensed electricians, not a Govee dealer or partner, and any product warranty is between you and Govee. Our job is making the install look like it was always meant to be there.
Still deciding between a Govee kit and a pro-installed system? Our roofline lighting guide and our comparison of permanent vs. seasonal Christmas lights lay out the trade-offs. Then call us with the box in hand.
What We Do
Govee Help From Licensed Electricians
One company, one schedule, one price you see before we start.
Install
Bring us the box. We'll bring the ladder, the drill, and an electrician's license.
- Layout planning so the run starts and ends where the outlet and the corners make sense
- Straight, even mounting along the eave or fascia on stucco, wood, or block
- New outdoor GFCI receptacle with an in-use cover near the start of the run
- Clean cable routing and sealed penetrations so monsoon rain stays outside
- App setup, Wi-Fi pairing, and a first schedule before we pack up
Service & Repair
Already put it up yourself? Respect. When it stops working, we'll take it from there.
- Troubleshooting dead sections and lights that won't respond
- Re-securing runs that sagged, peeled, or blew loose in a storm
- Fixing tripping GFCIs, overloaded circuits, and tired extension cords
- Reconnecting the controller after a router or password change
- Takedown and reinstall around roof, paint, or stucco work

When Your Govee Lights Act Up
Most Govee calls we take fall into a handful of categories. Here's what they usually mean.
Lights dead, app shows offline
Power first. A tripped GFCI, a loose plug, or an outlet on a wall switch someone flipped off.
One segment out
A loose or damaged connection at the start of that segment, often where the cable bends around a corner.
Lights sagging or pulling off the eave
Mounting that wasn't anchored for the heat. Stucco and a hurried install often part ways by August.
App won't pair
Weak Wi-Fi where the controller sits, a new router or password, or a phone setting blocking setup.
Outlet trips when it rains
Water in the plug connection or the receptacle. A proper in-use cover usually ends it for good.
Extension cord across the patio
Not a failure, exactly. A sign the house needs an outlet where the lights start. We can add one.
Why Pros Install a DIY Kit
The kit is the easy part. The house is the hard part. Phoenix stucco is sand and cement over foam or block, and drilling it wrong leaves chips the HOA notices before you do. Mounts that seem fine in November can let go in July, when the eave is hot enough to fry an egg, assuming you had some reason to fry an egg on your eave.
We bring the right anchors, the right bits, and a plan that lines the run up with the roofline instead of letting it wander. And we solve the problem nobody prints on the box: power. A permanent light deserves a permanent outlet, not a cord pinched in the garage door. If you'd like the lights to work with the rest of the house, ask about smart home automation when you book.
When You've Outgrown the Kit
Some homeowners love their Govee kit and keep it for years. Others decide they want longer runs, a different mounting style, or a system with a pro install and a local service call behind it. Neither choice is wrong. They're just different price tags and different amounts of ladder.
If you're curious, we'll quote our own permanent roofline lighting next to a Govee install so you can compare honestly. Either way, protect it with whole-home surge protection, because the monsoon doesn't check brand names. One call covers both quotes.

FAQ
Govee: Questions, Answered
Yes. We install Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights kits our customers bought themselves, including mounting, cable routing, sealing, power, and app setup. We're not a Govee dealer or partner, so product warranty questions go to Govee.
Often, yes. The nearest outdoor outlet is rarely where the run needs to start. We add a GFCI receptacle with a weatherproof in-use cover right where it belongs. See our outlet installation service.
Yes. We troubleshoot dead sections, re-secure runs that sagged, fix tripping outlets, and reconnect the app. No judgment. The eave is a hard place to work.
It depends on the length of the roofline, the number of corners, the wall material, and whether we need to add an outlet. We look first and give you a flat-rate price before we start.
Many HOAs allow them when they're discreet and used with some restraint. Check your rules first, and read our HOA-friendly roofline lighting guide.
