Trimlight
“Every resale house in the Valley comes with a mystery switch. Some come with mystery lights.”
Real estate listings in Scottsdale and Chandler have learned a new phrase: permanent holiday lighting. It reads beautifully in the listing. Then escrow closes, the sellers move to Prescott, and you're standing in the driveway with an app you've never downloaded, a controller you can't find, and a roofline that lights up half pink on a Tuesday for reasons nobody can explain.
Trimlight is a permanent roofline system: addressable, color-changing LEDs set in a slim channel along the fascia, run by a controller and a phone app. It's sold and installed through authorized dealers. We're licensed electricians, not a Trimlight dealer. If you know who installed yours and it's still under warranty, start with them.
If you don't know, or the warranty is long gone, we're a good second call. We find the controller and the power supplies, test the circuits and receptacles that feed them, and work out why the run is dark. More often than not the answer is electrical, and electrical is our trade. You can see how these systems fit Valley homes on our permanent roofline lighting hub.
We'll also tell you when the fix isn't ours to make. A failed proprietary part is a dealer conversation, and we'll say so in plain English instead of improvising on your roofline. Honest diagnosis first. Then a flat-rate price. Then the work.
What We Do
Trimlight Help From Licensed Electricians
One company, one schedule, one price you see before we start.
Electrical & Install
The lights get the attention. The power behind them does the work. We handle that part.
- Locating and mapping existing controllers, power supplies, and feeds on resale homes
- Dedicated lighting circuits and new GFCI receptacles where the system needs power
- Weatherproof in-use covers that keep dust and rain out with the plug in
- Surge protection at the panel and at the controller
- Moving power supplies to cooler, reachable locations
Service & Repair
We troubleshoot Trimlight systems from the breaker outward, so you pay for a fix, not a guess.
- Dead runs, half-lit sections, and lights stuck on a single color
- GFCIs that trip at night, after rain, or every time the AC kicks on
- Controller power and network checks when the app shows offline
- Repairs after monsoon wind, hail, or a ladder in the wrong place
- Takedown and reinstall for roof, stucco, and paint projects
Repair
When Your Trimlight Lights Act Up
A roofline system tells you something is wrong by going dark. Here's what usually comes next.
Nothing lights, nothing in the app
Check for power first. A tripped GFCI, a dead receptacle, or a switched outlet somebody turned off is the usual suspect.
Lights out past a certain point
The fault usually sits at or just before the first dark light: a connector, a splice, or a damaged section.
Colors scrambled or random
A data connection problem along the run. A few summers of heating and cooling can loosen connections.
Works at night, fails in afternoon heat
A power supply or receptacle that's overheating. Location matters in a Phoenix attic or on a west wall.
App says offline after a new router
The controller is still looking for your old network. It needs reconnecting, not replacing.
Breaker trips when the lights come on
A short in the wiring, water in a box, or too much load on a shared circuit. That's an electrical repair.
Buying a House With the Lights Already Up
Ask the sellers three questions before closing: who installed the system, where the controller lives, and whether the app account can be handed over. Write the answers down. You will not remember them in November, and the sellers will not answer their phone from Prescott.
If the answers come back vague, add the lighting circuits to your move-in checklist. We check the receptacles, the covers, the breaker, and the surge protection, and flag anything done with an extension cord and optimism. It fits neatly into a general electrical repair visit, and afterward you'll know exactly what you own. Book it before the first cool evening, when everyone else does.
Your Dealer and Your Electrician Aren't Rivals
A good dealer knows the product cold. A good electrician knows the house. When a system keeps tripping, those are two different questions, and the fastest repairs happen when each person answers their own half.
We're happy to meet your dealer on site, test the circuit while they test the lights, and hand over our findings in writing. If the lights are the issue, the dealer handles it. If the outlet is the issue, we fix it that day. Nobody climbs the ladder twice. Want more light at ground level while we're there? Our outdoor lighting work pairs well with a roofline. Call and we'll plan both in one visit.

FAQ
Trimlight: Questions, Answered
No. We're licensed electricians, not a Trimlight dealer. We don't sell Trimlight products or perform warranty work. We do the electrical prep, troubleshooting, and out-of-warranty repairs. If your system is under warranty, contact your dealer first.
Yes. We locate the controller and power supplies, test the circuits, and get the system powered and back on your network if the hardware is sound. Call (480) 863-5910 or schedule a visit.
Usually moisture in a connection or receptacle box, a damaged cord, or a failing power supply. A GFCI trips to protect you, so don't keep resetting it and hoping. Our article on what GFCI and AFCI devices do explains why it matters.
A Trimlight dealer sells new Trimlight systems. We can prep the electrical for that install, or quote our own permanent LED roofline system so you can compare side by side. Our piece on whether permanent lighting is worth it may help you decide.
That's the whole idea of permanent lighting. Owners run warm white most nights, team colors on game day, and holiday patterns in December. Our game day lighting page has ideas.
Yes. We're licensed (ROC #340021), insured, and bonded, with upfront flat-rate pricing, background-checked crews, and a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
