Oelo Lighting

“Permanent lighting earns its keep on an ordinary Tuesday, not on Christmas Eve.”

The pitch for permanent roofline lighting usually starts with the holidays. Fair enough. Nobody misses the ladder, the tangle of last year's bulbs, or the strand that dies the moment it's fully hung. But ask Oelo owners in the Valley and they'll tell you the value shows up the rest of the year: soft white light on the house every evening, a glow along the eaves that makes the porch feel lived in, and team colors on Sunday.

Oelo is a permanent lighting system with app-controlled, color-changing LEDs mounted in a low-profile channel along the roofline. It's sold and installed through authorized dealers. We're licensed electricians, not an Oelo dealer, and we don't do warranty work. If your system is new, the dealer is your first call.

But a system that runs every night for years leans hard on its power. Circuits, receptacles, covers, cords, and surge protection all get a workout most outlets never see. That's our side of the house. We build it right before the install, and we fix it when something along the way gives out. For everyday ideas, see our architectural accent lighting page.

What We Do

Oelo Help From Licensed Electricians

One company, one schedule, one price you see before we start.

Electrical & Install

Every-night lighting needs a circuit that can handle every night. We set that up before the dealer arrives.

  • Dedicated circuit for the lighting system, kept off busy shared circuits
  • GFCI protection that meets code without constant nuisance tripping
  • Weatherproof in-use covers on every exterior receptacle we touch
  • Panel-level and point-of-use surge protection
  • Clean power routing that doesn't leave cords stapled to the stucco

Service & Repair

When a system runs nightly, small electrical problems surface faster. We catch them before they spread.

  • Diagnosing intermittent outages and lights that drop out mid-scene
  • Replacing worn receptacles, covers, and cords
  • Controller power and connection troubleshooting
  • Storm and surge damage assessment after a monsoon
  • Removal and reinstall when the roof, stucco, or paint needs work

When Your Oelo Lights Act Up

Lighting systems tend to fail quietly, then all at once. Here's how to read the early signs on an Oelo system.

Lights go out at the same time every evening

A switched outlet, a timer, or a shared circuit with a load that kicks on at that hour, like a pool pump.

Fine in winter, cutting out in summer

Heat stress on a power supply or receptacle. Often a location problem more than a parts problem.

Section dark after a windstorm

A pulled connection or damaged channel. Monsoon gusts find every loose fastener.

Schedule stops running

The controller lost power or network along the way. Check that its power is stable before blaming the app.

GFCI trips on a dry night

A ground fault from a damaged cord or connection, or a worn-out GFCI receptacle. Both deserve a test.

Built for Every Night, Powered for Every Night

A string of holiday lights runs for six weeks. A permanent system may run every evening for years. That's a different duty cycle, and it changes what the power side should look like. Shared circuits, aging receptacles, and covers that don't quite close all get found out sooner.

So we start by looking at what else lives on the circuit. Garage freezers, pool equipment, and the occasional mystery load can trip a breaker at the worst possible moment, usually during a party. A dedicated line ends the argument. Our exterior lighting crews handle this every week. Call before the dealer's install date and we'll have it ready.

Game Day, Every Day, and the HOA

Part of the fun is color. Red for the Cardinals, purple and orange for the Suns, whatever your household argues about on Sunday. Our game day lighting page has the playbook.

The other part is restraint. Plenty of Valley HOAs have feelings about flashing color on a Tuesday in June. Warm white most of the year and color for the holidays keeps most boards calm. If yours is strict, read our HOA-friendly lighting guide before you program anything ambitious.

Shopping for a New System? Here's the Honest Path

If you want a brand-new Oelo system, a dealer sells it. We'll gladly prep the electrical first so the install day goes smoothly. If you'd like a comparison, we'll quote our own permanent LED roofline system side by side.

Either way, read our breakdown of permanent roofline lighting costs first. Knowing the price range before the salesperson tells you is a fine position to be in. Then call us for the electrical half.

FAQ

Oelo: Questions, Answered

No. We're licensed electricians, not an Oelo dealer, and we don't sell Oelo products or do warranty work. We handle the electrical side, troubleshooting, and out-of-warranty repair.

Call your dealer first. If they find the problem is the outlet, the circuit, or the breaker, we're glad to fix that part and send them our findings.

They're probably sharing a circuit with a heavy load, or a GFCI is reacting to it. A dedicated circuit for the lighting usually solves it for good.

Yes. We install surge protection at the panel and recommend point-of-use protection for the controller. See our whole-home surge protection service.

Yes. We troubleshoot and repair the electrical side of out-of-warranty systems, with a flat-rate price before any work starts.
